Bullying

"The boy you just tripped?.. . He is abused enough at home. See that man with the ugly scars?... He fought for his country. That guy you just made fun of for crying?... His mother is dying. The girl you just called fat?... She is overdosing on diet pills. The girl you just called ugly?... She spends hours putting makeup on hoping people will like her. Put this as you're status if you're against bullying. I bet 95% of you wont re-post, but I'm sure the people with heart and backbone will"

I've been seeing a lot of these posts lately. And two things come to mind when I see them.
First is the hypocrisy of it all. Innocent people don't need to be bullied and these people are standing up for it. That's great. HOWEVER, if you scroll down their page just a tad, you see all sorts of posts talking about hoes, and haters, and sluts, and losers, and all sorts of nastiness. So, we're against bullying but we can label all we want. We can label Christians as "Bible Beaters" and call Pagans "Satanists" but it's not right to call someone ugly? I feel that bullying takes many forms and that stereotypes ARE a part of bullying! Just because a girl flirts with a lot of guys/has a lot of guy friends, that means it's okay to call her a slut? If I walk past a pregnant girl at school, that makes her a whore and willing to sleep with everyone? How is THIS not bullying?

I just think that it's wrong to post about being against bullying but then turn around and post stuff like, "twinkle twinkle little slut. do your legs ever shut?" and other such crap.
Second is the fact that words hurt EVERYONE. Bullying isn't wrong simply to anorexics and abused children. If I walk up to the most privileged person on earth with two parents who ADORE them and a bunch of true friends and call them all sorts of names, it's still wrong and it still hurts that person. If I walk up to a gay person and call them all sorts of rude terms, that's still bullying. Even if said gay is in a loving relationship, me picking on him still hurts!

All in all, bullying in all forms is still WRONG! But we continue to do it. Maybe because it helps with our insecurities to call someone else out? Either way, it needs to stop!
