My parabola

A parabola is a function that is significant because-- instead of going straight-- it curves. It can be demonstrated by throwing something up and watching it curve down.
I have a series of freckles on my face that plot out a parabola. I'm quite proud of them. They make me feel like such a nerd but that's a good thing.

Mascara

Mascara and I have a VERY love-hate relationship. As in, I WANT to love it. But it hates me. So I fight it. Every once in a long while it behaves for me but, no matter what mascara I use, it always looks spider-leggy. Seriously. I own THREE DIFFERENT TYPES of mascara!!! Every. Single. One. FAILS ME!! (Today's blog shall be in RED because I am very angry at the mascara.)

YouTube Coincidence

I love Charlieissocoollike and this poem of his is super amazing. I love how, when the stanzas change, his moustache does too. I also love his accent. Just watch because this.. is pure amazement. And a happy coincidence since I just blogged about moustaches here.

Double Popsicles

Many of you will be familiar with this:

it is a double popsicle. And they make me nervous. It's because.. I'm not sure how to eat them. Think about it. They're too big to eat as one giant popsicle. But I'd feel bad double-fisting. Your hand would get all sticky just eating one at a time. But you'd look bad eating two at once.
How do you eat them???? They confuse me. And I harbor a tiny hatred for them, simply for the confusion. This is why I stick to less-confusing desserts. Such as a brownie or a cookie. Nobody can be confused by a cookie. It is a round disk of magic. These are a giant bit of evil on stilts.. If you turn them upside down, they look like devil horns.
So, there's my odd little fact of the day. I get defeated by popsicles. Happy now? Good.

Friday Lovin'

Dinosaurs (as I've mentioned in my Mustache post) are epic. Not, like, "The Illiad" epic. No. Like, super-crazy-rock-awesome epic. Epic with a capital "EPIC". They are that epic. I'm just gonna stop talking and let the pictures do the talking for me.

Mustaches

Mustaches are epic.


That pretty much sums everything up. I have a love of mushrooms, dinosaurs (I'm wearing dinosaur knee socks RIGHT NOW!!!), knee socks, glitter, and mustaches. Flair pins and Silly Bandz are pretty pimpin' too. But this post shall be about mustaches.
Really, just pictures of mustaches. 'cause I think they're cool. No-Shave November is coming up. Ben's participating in it. (Two months away but he promised his friend that he would so.. yeah. =) ) I'm not really sure where along the line I started to think that mustaches were cool. But I do. And I have mustache earrings, tshirts, and stickers.. I'm such a nerd.

Kandi

With the raver community, there's a new form of jewelry called "Kandi." I am absolutely smitten with it. No, I am not a raver. Never been to a rave, doubt I ever will go to one. I just stumbled across Kandi on YouTube and absolutely loved it!! I wear 27 bracelets and 2 necklaces every day. Every one is different. And I have a bajillion different beads! It's so calming, just sitting down and stringing bead after bead onto elastic string. (Pony beads, for those of you who want to know.) 
It's super funny 'cause I'm in high school. Everyone's completely fascinated with my bracelets and I'm like, "y'all know that these were the same beads you played with in kindergarten, right?" but they still think they're super cool. I look like a toddler on acid. (No, this is not a drug endorsement. I never have and never will do drugs. I don't approve of it in adults. DEFINITELY DO NOT GIVE YOUR TODDLERS HARDCORE DRUGS!!!! That is bad.)

Teenage Pregnancy

   I went down to my grandparent's today to craft and my Bug was there. We were talking how, whenever I go out with him, I get crazy dirty looks for holding him. This got me thinking: Why is there such a stigma against teen pregnancy?

   In APHG the other day (AP Human Geography), we were talking about teen pregnancy and what the first thing we thought of when we saw a pregnant teenager. First thing said, "She must be a whore." Really? Now must she? Is it possible that she just wasn't educated about sex? Or that she wasn't taught about contraceptives? Or maybe she just fell prey to the "it can't happen to me" mentality that teenagers have? No. That's inconceivable. She MUST be a whore.

   And, another thing, why is it only the girls? Why aren't the guys labelled and put down and bullied? I mean, they did the exact same things that girl did. But I don't hear the fathers being name-called and looked down on. I don't think that's really fair. Nobody ever talks to the guys about prevention of teen pregnancy. They just yell at the girls.

   And why are the girls "whores"? I mean, they can't be the only girls in this world that has dot-dot-dot-ed. ("Mamma Mia" reference xD) but they're the only ones that are publicly judged. I mean, maybe it's because they have to carry the evidence under their sweater ("Juno".. I'm on a roll!!). I'm not sure but, either way, it isn't very fair. And not at all nice.

   Then, when asked for reasons behind their pregnancy (no, I know the reason. I mean.. Just.. keep reading), their home life was attacked. They must be neglected, living in a lower class society, or the daughter of teen parents (which is actually a pretty high reason for why but, still). That wasn't very fair. Again, lack-of-sex-education might be the reason too.

   But enough about my controversial topic. I just thought that, maybe if I can get some people to think, I could start a chain reaction. Maybe the social stigma would be changed. Maybe these girls wouldn't be judged so harshly.

   Oh and here's one where they satirize the teen pregnancy. "Let's wear too-short, provocative dresses, shove basketballs under them, and dance around EXTREMELY suggestively" (it was one-toe away from the line of suggestive and simply.. yeah. =/ ) is SUCH a good idea for THREE FLOATS in ONE parade. Read the article here, it was so bad that the news wasn't allowed to show it.

Songs Part Deux

So.. I just really like music. And I want to share my music with y'all. So this is going off my newest YouTube playlist. (Well, some of it. It has a bajillion songs on it and some aren't appropriate for the younger viewers, even if they are FREAKING AMAZING SONGS!!!)
I really love this song. It's super sweet and Ben introduced it to me =) It is "Burn the Night Away" by There For Tomorrow.

"Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj. It's weird because I'm not that fond of Nicki Minaj but I absolutely love this song. It's just so cute.

"The Ballad of Mona Lisa" by Panic! At The Disco. This music video is so fantastically steampunk <333

"F***in' Perfect" by P!nk. I love this song, especially the uncensored version. It just seems so much better when she drops the "F-bomb" (No, I don't choose my music on "shock value" and I normally prefer uncensored versions. This, however, is the exception.)

"Ur So Gay" by Katy Perry. I love this song. Too funny. Reminds me of one of my old friends... *giggle*

I love this song. How can you listen to it and NOT want to dance?? You can't. Jessie J is pretty schnazzy. ("Price Tag" for those of you who want to know.)

Autumn

Or Fall. Whichever you prefer. It really doesn't matter to me what you call it, since I'll always LOVE this season! This season just makes me SO HAPPY! 
I'm really not a summer sort of girl. Actually, I REALLY do NOT like summer! Where I live, it's always super humid. Like, breathe-through-a-straw humid. And hot. Not as hot as it's been in Texas (thank the Lord!!) but still obnoxiously so. And, as my grandmother put it, we live on Devil's Hill so we NEVER get rain. It will pour on the other side of our hill, but my side of the hill? Forget it. Not a drop. (Though we did have some crazy hail.. Looked like it had snowed, even the day after the hail.) 
Enough about summer, 'cause that's just bringing me down. I love autumn. (And I love calling it autumn. But you can call it fall, if it so please you.) Autumn, to me, is Halloween, Renaissance Faires, leaves, apples, cinnamon, comfort food, and so. much. more. Cocoa is the bomb and, while it's technically a wintry beverage, I prefer it in fall. Oooh and all the clothing options that become available!! Plus the weather is just super pretty! It's relatively dry in autumn and the temperature is cool. Occasionally it gets cold but that just means SWEATERS!! Mmmm.. Autumn =) it makes me so happy.

Glow in the Dark Stars

I'm afraid of the dark. It's not a big secret. When I go to bed, I have to have my nightlight on (Mainly one of the Glade electric candles. I've been using my glitter LED snowman a lot lately, though..) and some music playing. Normally it's just a CD and, whenever it's been stopped for too long, I'll wake up, roll over, press play, and go right back to sleep. Anywho, to combat my fear of the dark, I decided to get glow-in-the-dark stars and COVER my ceiling in them. Well, they are all over my ceiling and a few teeny ones are stuck to sequins on my pink chandelier. (I should really get some more...) But I love them. I'm still afraid of the dark and still use my nightlight but the glow stars kind of make my day.

Adventures in Babysitting

Last night, I got to baby sit my cousin, Bug. My parents went out on date night. His parents went to a festival of some sort and took my brother. So it was just Bug and I. He is such a good baby!! He fell asleep before everyone left and slept for about an hour. He woke up and the only reason I knew he was awake is because I heard little hands scratching on the cradle bars. For the three hours I had him, he didn't fuss at all! (Well, a teensy bit because he was hungry and I wasn't putting him in the high chair fast enough. But a little whimpering, I can deal with.) Then we had the FUNNIEST episode with feeding. He was sitting in his high chair and the jar of baby food (peach. He rather enjoyed it.) was sitting on the tray in front of him. Apparently I wasn't going fast enough and, when I turned my head for two seconds, he grabbed the jar! It was so cute! He was tilting it on its side and just eating right out of it. By the end, he and I were both COVERED in peaches. Haha xD then we went and played on the floor and read some. He loves to read "Where the Wild Things Are" so we read that one twice. Throughout the course of the night, I think we visited our fish tank at least ten times. He was fascinated by that thing! It was so cute.
